Coming Home: Dr. Stephany Vasquez-Perez Brings Compassionate House Call Veterinary Care to Reno/Sparks
After years of practicing veterinary medicine in Oregon, I’m thrilled to be back home in Reno, serving the Reno/Sparks communities where I grew up. As Dr. Stephany Vasquez-Perez, I’ve returned to my roots with a clear purpose: to provide accessible, compassionate veterinary care to the diverse families in Reno/Sparks. Especially those who face barriers to traditional clinic visits.

Home has always been important to me. I moved back to Reno with my husband, our three human children, my mom, and my clan of animals: Heechul, Sakura, Shippo, Lily, BK, Dyno and Pinky to be near our extended family—my grandmother, siblings, aunts, and cousins who make up our close-knit support system. When I’m not caring for pets, you’ll find me spending time playing soccer with my family all over the community. Family is everything to me, and that value extends to how I practice veterinary medicine. I understand that pets are family, and I’m committed to treating them with the same care and respect I’d want for my own loved ones.
From Student Parent to Veterinarian: My Journey
My path to veterinary medicine wasn’t traditional, but it taught me resilience and the importance of support systems. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences from Oregon State University, followed by my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from OSU’s Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine. During my time at Oregon State, I was part of a community that understood the unique challenges facing student parents—an experience that shaped my commitment to serving diverse families.
After graduation, I practiced in traditional brick-and-mortar clinics and house-call settings throughout Oregon. These experiences showed me the power of meeting pets and families where they are—literally and figuratively. In 2024, I served as a Vetcor Near Peer Mentor, supporting other veterinarians as they navigated their careers. That mentorship role reinforced something I already knew: we’re stronger together, and building community makes us all better practitioners.
Why House Calls Matter for Reno/Sparks Families
When I decided to return home and launch my independent house call practice, I knew exactly which communities I wanted to serve. The greater Reno-Sparks area is home to incredibly diverse families with varying needs and circumstances.
Many families in our community face real barriers to veterinary care: seniors with mobility challenges, families without reliable transportation, multi-pet households where getting everyone to the clinic is overwhelming, and Spanish-speaking families who may feel more comfortable receiving care in their primary language. House call veterinary medicine isn’t just convenient—for many families, it’s the difference between receiving care and going without.
That’s why I’m honored to be one of only two veterinarians in Nevada to receive a practice incubation grant from Petopia.org and The Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation. This support enables me to serve families who might otherwise struggle to access veterinary care, providing the individualized attention every pet deserves, regardless of their family’s circumstances.
Breaking Down Language Barriers
As a bilingual veterinarian, I’m passionate about serving Reno’s Latino community. I understand that language barriers can prevent families from seeking the care their pets need, and I’m committed to ensuring that Spanish-speaking pet parents feel welcomed, understood, and empowered to make the best decisions for their animals. Whether we’re discussing preventative care, treatment options, or end-of-life decisions, I want every family to feel confident that they fully understand their pet’s health and have a voice in their care.
Being able to provide veterinary care in Spanish isn’t just about translation—it’s about cultural understanding, building trust, and ensuring that every family in Reno has equal access to quality veterinary medicine. I’m here to serve as both a healthcare provider and a role model, showing that veterinary medicine welcomes and needs diverse voices.
My Passion: Preventive Care and Dental Health
While I love all aspects of veterinary medicine, I’m especially passionate about preventative care and dental health. The best medicine is often the care we provide before problems develop. During my comprehensive wellness examinations, I take time to conduct thorough physical assessments, develop personalized vaccination protocols, and perform preventative screenings for infections and systemic illnesses. These proactive visits are designed to catch potential issues early and maintain your pet’s optimal health throughout their life.
We’ll discuss your pet’s lifestyle, dietary needs, and environmental factors to develop a customized preventive care plan tailored to your pet’s individual needs and your family’s situation. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all medicine—your senior cat with kidney disease needs a very different approach than your active young Labrador, and I take pride in creating truly individualized care plans.
Dental health is another area where I see tremendous opportunity to improve pets’ quality of life. Dental disease affects the majority of pets over three years old, yet it often goes unaddressed until it causes significant pain and complications. During every wellness visit, I perform thorough oral examinations and discuss dental health with pet parents. If there’s one thing I miss about traditional clinic practice, it’s being able to perform dental procedures myself—I genuinely love doing dentals! But while I can’t perform full dental cleanings in a house call setting (they require anesthesia and specialized equipment only available in a clinic), I can ensure your pet gets the dental care they need through comprehensive assessment and referrals to trusted local veterinary dentists. I’ll work with you to develop a dental care strategy that makes sense for your pet—whether that’s at-home care, professional cleanings at a partner clinic, or a combination approach. Good dental health isn’t just about clean teeth; it’s about preventing systemic disease and ensuring your pet can eat comfortably throughout their life.
Comprehensive Care for Reno Pets
My house call practice offers a full range of veterinary services for dogs and cats. I provide wellness and preventative care with thorough physical assessments and personalized vaccination protocols—the foundation of everything I do. When pets are ill, I offer diagnostic evaluations and evidence-based treatment, working closely with families to determine the best path forward, whether that’s at-home care or referral to specialty hospitals when advanced care is needed.
I also provide dental health assessments, behavioral consultations, telemedicine services for established clients, pain management and hospice care, compassionate end-of-life services in the comfort of home, and travel health certificates for families planning trips with their pets.
Why I Chose Heal House Call Veterinarian
When I decided to launch my independent practice, I knew I wanted to be part of something bigger than myself—a community of like-minded veterinarians who share my values and support each other’s success. That’s precisely what I found with Heal House Call Veterinarian.
Heal supports independent house call veterinarians like me by handling the business infrastructure—scheduling, payment processing, technology support, and marketing—so I can focus on what I love most: caring for pets and building relationships with families. It’s the best of both worlds: I maintain complete autonomy in my medical decisions and practice style while benefiting from the support and community of other passionate house call veterinarians across the country.
Being part of the Heal network also means my clients benefit from consistent, high-quality systems and resources. From easy online scheduling to secure payment processing and organized medical records, everything is designed to make veterinary care more accessible and convenient for Reno families.
Transparent Pricing
My pricing stays competitive with traditional in-clinic costs but without the stress of waiting rooms for you and your pet. I believe in transparent pricing—no surprises, no hidden fees. You’ll know exactly what to expect before I arrive at your door.
Like your local clinic, I charge a standard exam fee, with additional fees only if your location requires extended travel beyond my normal Reno/Sparks service area. All pricing is discussed upfront when you schedule, and payment is conveniently handled by credit card at your visit.
My Practice Philosophy
My passion for veterinary medicine stems from my belief that every pet deserves individualized, compassionate care in their most comfortable environment—their home. I find joy in solving medical mysteries, building meaningful relationships with pets and their families, and providing personalized solutions for each unique situation.
But more than that, I believe veterinary medicine should be accessible to everyone, regardless of language, mobility, financial circumstances, or any other barrier. That’s why I’m committed to serving Reno’s diverse communities, why I’m honored to have the support of the Duffield Foundation, and why I chose house call medicine as my path.
My goal is simple: to make a positive difference in your pet’s life while strengthening the special bond you share. Whether we’re discussing preventative care for your healthy young dog, managing chronic illness in your senior cat, or navigating difficult end-of-life decisions, I’m here to support you with expertise, compassion, and respect.

I’m proud to serve the neighborhoods of Sparks and Reno. Whether you’re in a 55+ community, raising a young family, managing multiple pets, or facing mobility challenges, I’m here to bring quality veterinary care directly to your door.
